About The Position

Americold is a global provider of temperature-controlled infrastructure. We partner with farmers and food producers to ensure their perishable and frozen product reaches food suppliers, restaurants, and your local grocery store without spoilage. Our customers, which include some of the most respected brands in the food industry, rely on our expertise and commitment to safety to delivery on their commitments. The Americold Summer Internship Experience is a 12-week, full time, paid internship that takes place over the summer term in various locations throughout the country. The internship opportunity will afford our interns to better understand the supply chain industry, work on challenging and industry-specific projects, plus the ability to collaborate with organizational leaders, colleagues, and peers. As an Americold Intern, the experience you will gain here will not only be essential to your personal and professional growth and development, but your contributions can make a vital difference for our company.

Requirements

  • Currently a rising junior or senior enrolled at an accredited college/university in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Reliability, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Robotics or related field of study.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably at all levels of the organization including with senior level leaders.
  • Detail-oriented, multi-tasking, and analytical problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing digital transformation apps using AWS technologies like Java, React, DocumentDB, AWS Technologies, PL/SQL, CloudWatch & GitHub.
  • Experience with Docker, Amazon Forecast, SageMaker or JupyterHub in cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of applicable hardware platforms.
  • Understanding of supply chain and warehouse management.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma or Lean Process.
  • Data mining and analysis.
  • Familiarity of database and query knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL.
  • Strong technical skills: Excel, Python, and Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how Americold integrates energy-efficient technologies like LES lighting and solar power into facilities.
  • Support sustainability reporting and contribute to initiatives that help earn top industry accolades.
  • Work on real-world projects focused on process improvement, time studies, and warehouse process flows.
  • Complete a reliability-focused project culminating in a presentation to business leaders.
  • Support strategic initiatives aimed at transforming Americold's global facilities through innovative engineering solutions.
  • Execute projects through data collection, facility visits, and system analysis to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for innovation.
  • Deliver weekly stakeholder updates and present a final executive-level report.
