About The Position

This is a full-time position offering competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package. The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and HVAC. This role involves extensive travel to all company locations, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all store systems to ensure a safe and efficient environment for employees and visitors. The Facilities Maintenance Engineer reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor to assist in the management of daily operations, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications: HVAC, electrical, etc. are a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and building automation systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in various environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems.
  • Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty equipment and systems components.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Monitor and manage building automation systems to ensure efficient operation.
  • Assist in the operation and monitoring of building systems and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related emergencies and take appropriate action to mitigate damage or hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs.
  • Oversee and inspect the work performed by contractors to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain effective relationships with service providers and suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage energy consumption within the facility to ensure efficient usage.
  • Implement energy-saving initiatives and recommend improvements to reduce operational costs.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment inventories, and service histories.
  • Prepare and submit reports on facility conditions, maintenance issues, and project statuses.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance budgets and capital improvement plans.
