About The Position

The Electrician position in the General Services Department of Sarasota County involves maintaining, installing, and repairing various electrical systems. The role requires technical expertise in electrical work, collaboration with team members, and the ability to provide guidance and training to peers. The position also includes responsibilities such as managing material lists and overseeing the delivery of parts to job sites.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience, education, training, or any combination of experience with commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical trade in facility service and maintenance.
  • A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, install, and repair various electrical systems including building electrical systems, exterior property lighting, sports lighting and controls, and small liquid pumping systems and controls.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to peers.
  • Operate a bucket truck or obtain the ability to do so within 3 months of hire.
  • Initiate material lists, solicit cost estimates, and oversee the delivery of parts and materials to storerooms or job sites.
  • Operate and repair electrical equipment associated with mid-level to large commercial/public facilities.
