About The Position

Bucknell University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Assistant. The successful candidate in this position will perform general labor, custodial, groundskeeping and basic trades support to the Trades Technician, Groundskeeper, and custodial staff including minor building maintenance, construction support, setups/teardowns for events on campus, moving furniture on campus, and the operation of lawn and snow removal equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Up to 1 year of physical labor or maintenance experience
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Trades Technicians with basic tasks such as replacing standard plumbing parts, repairing wall damage, hanging bulletin boards and signage, painting drywall, replacing ceiling tiles, and repairing broken windows.
  • Provides general labor including dismantling, moving, and reassembling furniture, and moving construction supplies and equipment between work sites.
  • Performs general groundskeeping work on campus grounds such as mowing grass, trimming trees and shrubs, weeding, preparing seed beds, mulching, leaf removal, and shoveling snow.
  • Assists Custodians including spot cleaning, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, and stripping and waxing floors.
  • Ability to use small tools and repair small equipment
