About The Position

As a Life Safety and Environment of Care Specialist on our Facilities Services team with Mission Hospital McDowell, you will be responsible for understanding, interpreting, developing, and implementing Life Safety, Fire Safety, and Environment of Care regulations, guidelines, and best practices consistent with hospital objectives and requirements of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. This position will support 2 facilities in Mission Health System: Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion, NC and Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC. The person who accepts this position will be expected to float between facilities as needed but either facility could be used as the primary location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with ten (10) years related experience in healthcare management.
  • Must have a valid NC driver's license or procure one within 30 days of employment.
  • At least two years of satisfactory driving experience and be at least 18 years of age.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • CHFM Certification.
  • Extensive Knowledge of NFPA 101 and 99.
  • Experience with state, federal and Joint Commission standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
  • Previous experience in healthcare facility services.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with EOC regulatory, accreditation standards, and safety regulations.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the Life Safety program, Fire protection function, and EOC throughout the Hospital.
  • Maintain a constant state of readiness.
  • Document compliance in all areas and ensure training and competencies are in place for employed and contracted parties.
  • Ensure compliance with all Life Safety and Fire regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Execute quality control procedures to monitor all aspects of regulations.
  • Coordinate audits of health and safety programs within the Hospital.
  • Participate in fire and life safety and general safety-related investigations, complaints, and/or problems.
  • Research and review federal, state, and local regulatory rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • Provide technical assistance to fire alarm and fire suppression designers, contractors, architects, and engineers.
  • Provide leadership for activities that promote compliance with safety regulations.
  • Direct grounds maintenance and employees.
  • Provide leadership in hospital space allocation planning.
