The Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Facilities Liaison. Under the direction of the College of Engineering's Director of Engineering Facilities, serves as the coordinator of facilities and major equipment operations in the IRCB Building. Coordinates building and facility projects, renovations, modifications, maintenance/repairs, and space planning at IRCB and other college of engineering buildings as assigned by the Director of Engineering Facilities. Identifies, diagnoses, and suggests resolutions to facility issues and follows up when projects are initiated. Acts as liaison between the College and FSU Facilities Departments as well as external vendors and subcontractors. Oversees building security (cCure, keys, etc) in coordination with departmental security coordinators. Oversee the purchase of equipment, maintenance/service agreements, and facilities related purchases. Serve as backup to the Director of Engineering Facilities, as needed. Assists with the installation of equipment, including mounting of items, making minor plumbing connections, assembly of equipment and furniture, etc. Assists with furniture and equipment relocation. Responsible for maintaining and training users on building wide systems such as autoclave, warm room, cold room, and nitrogen system. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures essential for the safe and effective management of facilities and equipment. Coordinates with EH&S on safety concerns and serves on the Safety Committee. Monitors expenses for facilities, equipment, and projects in coordination with the Director of Engineering Facilities. Provides input to college administration to create long-range plans and budgets for facilities upgrades and emergency expenses. Provides input to ensure that appropriate allocations are made for the College's facilities and major equipment needs. Research costs and obtain competitive estimates to secure optimal pricing for goods and services. Provides property, inventory, and surplus oversight for the IRCB. Serves as a resource to departments in property management, reporting, and surplus of capital and attractive items. Reports and tracks resolution of lost/stolen property and develop procedures and processes to reduce risk of loss through theft. And other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree and a two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a post high school education can substitute for work experience at an equivalent level.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position which could include lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Minimum of two years' work experience in facilities maintenance, operation management or related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Ability to utilize problem solving and technical skills.

  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
  • Knowledge of processes, procedures, and methods used in facilities operations.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of management.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance principles, practices, and techniques.
