Ethicon, LLC is recruiting for a Facilities Lead, located in Manati, Puerto Rico. The Facilities Lead is responsible for the reliability and compliancy operations of the Facilities and Utilities through the Integrated Facilities Management model that includes the Hard and Soft Services (i.e. utilities, janitorial, pest control and landscaping, handyman, cafeteria and security services). This role is also responsible for Facilities Business Continuity, and support to Strategic projects and Capital Investment.

Requirements

  • University/Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of four years of related experience.
  • Experience working in facilities maintenance, equipment engineering, and/or process machinery area in the life science industry, in a GMP product manufacturing plant environment.
  • Basic management & supervision of both in-house and contracted personnel.
  • Facilities management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to think creatively, challenge the norm and inspire change.
  • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships internally/externally focused in customer service.
  • Experience working in a regulatory controlled environment.
  • Technical knowledge of facilities management or related fields.
  • Able to read schematics.
  • Proficiency (oral & written) in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project, and other specialty software is required.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as Utilities Subject Matter Expert (SME) for area improvements, deviations and investigations evaluation, regulatory and compliance audits, and capital justification. Also, supporting the FM Service Provider.
  • SME in utilities systems including but not limited to HVAC, dikes and secondary containment, WWTP, diesel storage and distribution, electrical systems, etc.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the business units; translate their expectations into facility and site-service solutions.
  • Provide site-level technical liaison and leadership to drive customer value and informed decision-making.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of site services, maintenance, utilities, building repairs, grounds, landscaping, pest control, parking, housekeeping and life‑safety systems.
  • Oversight of FM Service Provider maintenance program strategy and execution and maintain facilities equipment in good condition.
  • Provide technical support to the FM Service Provider to maintain the operating procedures of the area of responsibility up to date and oversight for the strict compliance.
  • Oversight of FM Service Provider during subcontracted jobs in the area of responsibility to ensure compliance with the established requirements and company policies, as applicable.
  • Provide support of the delivery and financial spending of Capital Projects as required by the projected financial cycle, safely and on time.
  • Responsible as area owner of the project scope definition, technical support, aligned with the long-range plan.
  • Partner with Compliance/Quality/EHS to ensure compliance with site programs and regulations.
  • Ensure quality and compliance metrics and objectives are achieved and support in the evaluation and documentation of quality and EHS&S records.
  • Collects data and prepares periodic reports for management on operational data including but not limited to energy consumption, water, steam and diesel consumption and efficiency per system (CHW, RHW, Comp Air, Steam, Water).
  • Supports major process and facilities projects, including conducting project team meetings as applicable.
  • Performs inspections inside and outside the facility to identify situations that may affect the proper functioning of the plant.
