About The Position

The Facilities & Landscape Technician is responsible for, under the general direction of the Manager of Facilities and Grounds, maintaining the outside appearance of the grounds for the main campus and the Medical Office Building. This includes maintaining lawns, trees, hedges, plants and keeping sidewalk and other areas neat and clear of debris. Year-round Part-Time Position - 18 Hours Per Week

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team-based diverse environment.
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion and capable of lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders of various heights.
  • Ability to operate power machinery such as riding lawn mower, push mower, weed trimmer, edger, hedge trimmer, blower and other various landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to clear walking paths of the occasional snowstorm and apply ice melt when needed.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in landscaping.

Responsibilities

  • Mowing, edging and fertilizing lawns.
  • Weeding and mulching landscape beds.
  • Trimming small trees, hedges, and shrubs.
  • Removing unwanted, dead, or damaged trees and plants.
  • Planting shrubs, flowers, and trees.
  • Watering lawns and landscapes.
  • Monitoring and maintaining plant health.
  • Report safety issues and property damage to supervisor.
  • Report and return lost property.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with employees, students, tenants, and guests.
  • Assist Facilities Technicians with set-ups and take-downs when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as needed under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
