Leave our customers and associates “better than where we found them.” The Facilities Intern is an individual contributor role that supports the Facilities Director and the broader General Services team. This internship provides hands‑on experience in facilities operations, workplace safety, vendor coordination, and general building maintenance. This role is required to be on-site 5 days a week. The Facilities Intern assists with day‑to‑day tasks to help ensure the safety, cleanliness, functionality, and overall upkeep of the workplace. This role is ideal for students interested in facilities management, construction, building operations, or related fields.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a high school, vocational/technical program, or college program focused on facilities management, construction, engineering, architecture, or related fields preferred
  • Prior experience in maintenance, building operations, or trades helpful but not required
  • Will train for all responsibilities
  • Interest in building operations and hands‑on maintenance tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers, tenants, and vendors
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures and standards
  • Ability to lift moderate weight, move equipment, and assist with physical tasks
  • Dependable, proactive, and eager to contribute
  • Ability to work occasional extra hours for special projects or events (as needed)
  • Ability to life up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured onboarding program to gain a working knowledge of building operations, safety standards, materials, and Facilities processes
  • Support daily Facilities operations, including room setups, furniture moves, inventory support, and basic building maintenance under supervision
  • Learn and assist with the Facilities request intake and work order process, including service response expectations and escalation procedures
  • Support a live construction and space reconfiguration project, gaining exposure to demolition, painting, and project coordination activities
  • Observe and document tenant needs, recurring service requests, and opportunities to improve Facilities service delivery
  • Develop an understanding of task prioritization, including which activities may be completed independently versus those requiring team support or vendor engagement
  • Assist with vendor coordination and gain exposure to vendor performance management, service scope oversight, and on‑site interactions
  • Conduct research and analysis related to vendor services, performance, and potential cost‑savings opportunities
  • Contribute to a facilities maintenance assessment identifying operational risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver a professional, executive‑level presentation summarizing facilities findings, vendor insights, and actionable recommendations
  • Incorporate leadership feedback and continue supporting Facilities management with follow‑up analysis, planning, and implementation support
  • Create documentation and summaries to support ongoing Facilities improvement initiatives and future planning
