About JLL Integrated Facilities Management (IFM): Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) is a critical part of JLL’s Work Dynamics business, responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable building operations. By combining engineering expertise, technology, and data-driven insights, our IFM teams optimize the performance of client facilities to enhance occupant experience, improve operational efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. What the job involves: We are currently seeking a Summer Intern in Facilities & Engineering Optimization to join our team in South San Francisco, CA. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting facilities and engineering optimization initiatives that enhance IFM service delivery and operational performance. You will collaborate with technical teams, analyze data, and assist in developing actionable improvement strategies for client facilities.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years completed, majoring in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with technical and leadership teams.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with strong documentation and project management capabilities.
  • Comfortable working in operational environments such as mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other facility spaces.
  • Interest in facilities management, process optimization, and operational efficiency.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with facilities systems or work order platforms is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analysis and process reviews by evaluating Statements of Work (SOW), work order history, and operational data to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with facilities management and engineering teams to document current workflows, benchmark key performance indicators (KPIs), and research industry best practices.
  • Engage in field operations by observing daily activities of stationary engineers and campus leaders, gaining firsthand insight into facility operations and building systems.
  • Participate in job site visits to mechanical spaces, rooftops, and other facilities areas to learn how IFM services are delivered in real-world environments.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations to optimize IFM delivery, enhance service efficiency, and support resource allocation strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing analysis, findings, and proposed optimization plans.
  • Support implementation planning for approved projects and assist with creating standard operating procedures to improve service consistency and delivery.
