About The Position

The Facilities Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting workplace and facility systems for Customer Care and Aftersales Facilities across the U.S. and Canada. You will collaborate with an industry-leading team of Facility Managers who operate and maintain facilities, while also strategically overseeing both current and long-term asset sustainment plans for the portfolio. Ensuring data quality and accuracy is essential. This dynamic role involves continuous travel across various sites, managing multiple projects remotely, and fostering strong relationships with site leadership, key stakeholders, and business partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a minimum of 6 years of equivalent demonstrated experience as a Facilities Engineer.
  • Experience in facility management and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and standards for facility systems, including electrical power, steam generation, fire suppression systems, and air conditioning.
  • Proven experience working with vendors and suppliers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
  • Extensive financial management experience, including CAPEX/OPEX projects, forecasting, budgeting, and proficiency with Ariba and SAP systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Availability to work occasional weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time within the United States and Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with process equipment and manufacturing equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of GM's electrical specifications and design guides.
  • Familiarity with various types of GM facilities and processes.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations relevant to facility operations.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) systems, such as Archibus or Corrigo.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to GM's Facility Area Managers regarding asset maintenance and replacements.
  • Ensure all facility assets are identified, updated, and integrated into the Global Asset Sustainment process, while overseeing yearly execution plans and proactively addressing long-term planning needs as sites evolve.
  • Champion Safety Contract Management for all facility vendor contracts and business partners across the CCA facilities portfolio in the US.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams on new projects and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address operational issues related to facility systems.
