Hear about the Caterpillar Experience for yourself Role Definition We are seeking a hands-on technical leader to oversee advanced technical services and maintenance operations in a high-tech manufacturing environment. This role combines leadership responsibilities with deep technical expertise in robotics, PLCs, industrial heat treat systems, hydraulics, and general maintenance. The ideal candidate demonstrates ownership, a proactive attitude, and a passion for learning and development while driving equipment reliability and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Engineering - Manufacturing: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Plant Facilities Management: Knowledge of processes, methodologies and techniques used to manage plant facilities; ability to handle the full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology (or related field) or equivalent experience desired.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with exposure to robotics and PLC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities using CMMS tools.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex systems, including robotics, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and heat treat equipment.
  • Collaborate with operations to align maintenance priorities with production goals and minimize downtime.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and implement process improvements.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, spare parts inventory, and support capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.
