About The Position

TerraPower Isotopes® (TPI™) has been established to pursue medical isotopes development--advancing nuclear science for significant human health benefits. Facilities Engineer - TPI The TerraPower Isotopes® (TPI™) Facilities Engineer will lead the design, commissioning, and lifecycle support of building systems for a new greenfield cGMP manufacturing facility producing Ac-225, as well as supporting existing TPI facilities.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering, Automation or related discipline from an accredited university and 5+ years direct experience with proven radiological ventilation system design, testing and commissioning skills in an industrial setting.
  • Experience using and troubleshooting building automation, SCADA or HMI systems.
  • Experience authoring process design documentation in an industrial setting including BFD, PFD, P&ID, controls documentation, system layout and mechanical drawings and design narratives.
  • Working knowledge of applicable design codes, design standards, data integrity standards, and best practices including ASME, ASCE, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, and NFPA codes and regulations including 21CFR Part-210-211 required.
  • Familiar with Solidworks, AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD P&ID.
  • Mechanically inclined, with demonstrated industrial experience in assembling and troubleshooting process equipment.
  • Understanding of safe working practices for chemicals and pressurized/vacuum systems, and direct hand-on experience working with chemicals in an industrial setting is essential.
  • Discipline, rigor, attention to detail, attention to safety, and procedural adherence are required.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, such as those developed in fast-paced environments including the military, and other nuclear or radiopharmaceutical environments.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives and productively generate engineering design documents accordingly in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience working and communicating productively in a multidisciplinary team including R&D, production, quality assurance, and engineering design functions.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience designing, installing systems and performing acceptance testing for equipment that operates within nuclear facilities, radiopharmaceutical facilities, or radiological areas is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design, build-out, commissioning and lifecycle support of spaces within cGMP Ac-225 isotope manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead the design of facility building systems and components from requirements development through to final design, successful commissioning and facility and process startup, ensuring systems meet radiological and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation including design plans, narratives, sizing calculations, PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, airflow diagrams, equipment specifications.
  • Develop installation, commissioning, and validation plans, procedures, and operational narratives for building systems, including HVAC systems designed to maintain segregated ISO-classified environments suitable for cGMP manufacturing and containment of long-lived radioactive materials.
  • Lead or support field installation, acceptance testing, and qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), including integration of facility infrastructure with hot cells, gloveboxes, and process systems.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance during routine operations, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with chemistry, process engineering, quality, operations, and project teams as needed to maintain operational efficiency and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and ensure effective application of applicable design codes and standards.
  • Support risk identification and resolution by proactively communicating technical issues, design tradeoffs, and schedule impacts across the TPI engineering and project teams.
  • Support interface with external vendors, contractors, and design partners to review designs, manage technical documentation, support fabrication and testing activities, and ensure work is executed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements.
