About The Position

This position works very closely with the Fort Wayne Assembly plant staff, plant operations, and General Motors Infrastructure & Corporate Citizenship leadership to maintain the facility and grounds, drive continuous improvement, coordinate facilities maintenance activities, manage projects, and drive safety culture in all activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Associate's Degree and equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in equipment repair and maintenance
  • Experience with PLC control systems
  • Experience with high voltage power distribution
  • Experience with Maximo maintenance database, SAP/Ariba purchasing system, timekeeping systems (Kronos/UKG Pro)
  • Experience with Building Management System
  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as required
  • Ability to lead focused teams in complex situations

Responsibilities

  • Supports all relevant and associated GM Workplace Safety System processes [Safety Contractor Management, Working at Heights, Management of Change, Emergency Response]
  • Support Business Plan Deployment (BPD) and GMS Basketweave in facility operations [Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, Environment]
  • Support sustaining Global Manufacturing System (GMS) BIQ4 status
  • Apply business acumen to facility operations [staffing, contracts, risk management, business continuity …]
  • Support environmental requirements and initiatives.
  • Timely and accurate financial reporting, order/contract administration and spending forecasting.
  • Electrical Safe Work Practices Workplace Safety System Module Champion
  • Support outbound logistics supplier facility items
  • Support Building Management System (Ventilation)
  • Coordinate Substation & High Voltage Power Distribution maintenance (High Voltage Level III certification).
  • NPP Project management and execution.
  • Support and Share responsibilities of fire suppression and alarm systems in plant and underground repairs and maintenance activities with team.
  • Provide input in early stages of manufacturing projects to ensure adequate utility supply quality and capacity.
  • Update and revise Asset database (ACAP) system as it relates Facilities Systems
  • Develop scope, cost estimates and timing for new facilities related projects.
  • Use appropriate procurement systems (SAP, PDPM, NPP) to schedule and manage projects with contract or internal resources.
  • Ensure all GM safety policies, Safety Contract Management and procedures are followed by contractor and internal resources.
  • Execute projects within budget and complete on schedule.
  • Coordinate project implementation with plant departments to insure no unplanned production disruptions.
  • Support successful planning and execution of the Workplace Safety System including but not limited to: Electrical safe work practices, call to action, safety observation tours, employee safety concerns, incident investigation, safety module compliance, SIF, and G-Comply (Sign-off procedure)
  • Develop scope documents and write purchase requests for all contracts required for above stated work.
  • Use GM purchasing software and follow approved purchasing processes.
  • Manage purchase orders and pay invoices for all contracts.
  • Provide month end accruals for all contracts to finance department.
  • Work with plant environmental department as required to ensure all contracts meet required environmental compliance for implementation and disposal requirements. This may include required documentation and maintenance of generators, proper contractor chemical approval and usage, proper waste disposal, corrective actions as needed for spill response etc.
  • Work with plant environmental group to develop projects as required to ensure the site remains in environmental compliance. This may include monitoring of utilities, maintaining integrity of containment areas, creating projects to comply with new regulations, etc.
  • Interface with UAW and comply with the local and national labor agreements.
  • Interface with GM Audit Services and Legal Staff, as required.
