The Facilities Document and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Coordinator is responsible for managing the archival of construction documents and space accounting at Austin Community College. This full-time position involves organizing and filing construction documents, updating CAD floor plans, and maintaining facility data in both CAD and BIM formats. The role supports the Digital Information Manager and collaborates with various departments to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with standards.

  • Update construction changes to CAD plans and clean up plans to match standard drawing formats.
  • Conduct field measurements of walls, doors, and renovations in existing buildings; develop and update master drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Ensure the integrity of electronic CAD files on the server and correct damaged files.
  • Work with the safety team to create evacuation plans.
  • Provide drawing support for in-house renovation projects and projects contracted to other engineering firms; generate sketches and plans; prepare reproductions of existing drawings.
  • Assign room usage and type defined by Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) codes.
  • Maintain facility data in both CAD and BIM format.
  • Update the spatial database by calculating square footages from architectural floor plans and transferring to the database.
  • Develop and maintain a folder structure for project electronic files.
  • Assist in the acquisition, processing, and preservation of old and new construction/real estate documents.
  • Preserve and archive all existing vintage drawings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree in architecture or related field preferred.
  • Two years of related work experience required; five years preferred.
  • Proven experience managing archival of construction documents and space accounting.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of institutional and commercial architecture, documentation, and construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with building construction codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in advanced AutoCAD and Revit software operation and application.
  • Ability to calculate areas within buildings and properties and record measurements.
  • Experience with information technology applications in an archives and/or library environment.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.
  • Experience with Adobe products such as Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Competitive salary range of $51,822 - $64,777 per year.
