Position Summary: This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit to strengthen the community.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in a related field.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Team player, with superb interpersonal skills. An ability to partner with co-workers and work with the public in a positive and friendly manner and resolve conflicts as needed.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, lead others, work independently, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
  • General computer skills with the ability to effectively learn and use new software.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with access to personal vehicle preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other facility.
  • Bachelor’s degree operations management or the equivalent in education and closely related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Director of Operations and CEO to promote healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.
  • Serves as a role model for staff, participants, and the community.
  • Actively participates in YMCAs strategic plan development and execution with CEO, Director of Operations, and other directors.
  • Uses strategic plan as a tool to lead and recruit staff in the creation and execution of capital projects and facility / asset management plans, including preventative maintenance of systems, equipment, buildings, and premises.
  • Provides the highest level of customer service while ensuring safety, licensing requirements, and the YMCAs reputation.
  • Serves on committees and task forces.
  • Adheres to all policies and standards.
  • Works with the CEO, Director of Operations, and Finance department to develop and manage a responsible budget and provide monthly feedback for any material variances.
  • Manages grants and deliverables.
  • Designs and implements purchasing, inventory, marketing, staff training, scheduling, and communication processes and documented procedures for department in accordance with standards and licensing requirements.
  • Participates in YMCA fundraising efforts, including the annual fundraisers to support mission-based programs and applies for grant opportunities.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • Provides continuous coaching through observations and feedback to support staff growth and ensure they meet program standards.
  • Leads staff in keeping buildings and properties efficiently functioning, secure, clean, and orderly while ensuring safety and the YMCAs reputation.
  • Manages repairs to ensure they are recorded and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Secures building and campus during weather or other shutdowns to ensure staff and member safety.
  • Ensures staff properly maintain the inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and supply orders are executed as needed.
  • Maintains ongoing maintenance including HVAC, fitness equipment, plumbing, painting, carpentry, re-lamping, snow removal, mowing, raking, gardening, and salting.
  • Facility areas include but are not limited to the track, offices, classrooms, kitchen, lobby, fitness rooms, equipment, restrooms, locker rooms, tennis courts, childcare areas, and sailing camp.
  • Ensures the timely completion of routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building and equipment including emergency lights, fire alarms, sprinklers, hood fans, fitness equipment, and elevators.; identifies problem sources and troubleshoots equipment malfunctions; repairs broken equipment, fixtures, and building systems.
  • Maintains the YMCA's Hazard Communication Program and ensures staff are aware of and comply with program.
  • Regularly performs safety checks; is prepared to address emergencies at all times.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with staff, volunteers, participants, and community partners and connects participants to the YMCA.
  • Partners with external agencies to ensure facilities and equipment remain in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversees and meets with vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Oversees department's administrative tasks.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, recognizes signs of abuse or neglect and reports to supervisor and the appropriate authorities.
