This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. We are seeking an experienced Level 3 Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will apply advanced structural engineering principles to design, analyze, and solve complex structural challenges across our projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • Current Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, such as RISA or RamElements, and underlying theory
  • Strong understanding of applicable building codes and standards
  • Experience with material behavior and structural system design
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and BIM software.
  • Proficiency in Revit

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, industrial, or commercial structural design
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and BIM software
  • Experience with advanced analysis methods (non-linear analysis, dynamic loading)
  • Knowledge of construction methods and constructability reviews
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex structural analyses and design calculations for various structural systems and components
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications using advanced CAD/FEA software
  • Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, and drawings
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure structural integrity of projects
  • Troubleshoot structural issues and provide technical solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders
