About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. We are seeking a Level 1 Electrical Engineer to join our design engineering team supporting new construction and renovation projects for buildings and infrastructure. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to develop expertise in electrical building systems while contributing to meaningful projects under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or ability to pass within a year
  • Ambition to obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering principles
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software
  • Knowledge of building systems and construction processes
  • Understanding of energy code compliance for buildings
  • Exposure to lighting design principles

Responsibilities

  • Support senior electrical engineers in developing detailed designs for building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and control systems
  • Assist in preparing electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software
  • Participate in field investigations to document existing conditions at project sites
  • Perform basic load calculations and equipment sizing for electrical systems
  • Help coordinate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, civil)
  • Support construction administration activities including submittal reviews and site visits
  • Contribute to project documentation and maintain accurate design records
  • Assist in ensuring designs comply with applicable codes and standards
