About The Position

Facilities Custodians will be responsible for janitorial activities within an assigned area or building. Activities will consist of both scheduled and unscheduled tasks.   This job involves routine work to maintain the cleanliness of the LSI Solutions Twin Village Campus. Facilities Custodians can be scheduled on either the day or evening shift. Work is evaluated through observation while work is in progress and by inspection of completed assignments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years custodian/janitor or cleaning experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Knowledge of the English language so as to understand operating instructions for cleaning equipment, materials, safety and accident prevention.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Ability to willingly attend and participate in training sessions.
• Ability to learn and practice acceptable cleaning methods.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a group setting.
• Interact positively with customers, co-workers, associates and management.
• Ability to hear the normally spoken word at 25 feet.
• Ability to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
• Ability to operate cleaning machines.
• Ability to stand for prolonged period of time.
• Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time.
• Indoors and outdoors in normal environment with some exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes.
• Mobility within the building including movement from floor to floor and outside the building.
• Ability to lift up to 30lbs. on a repetitive basis.
• May handle human body fluids and chemicals as part of the daily operational duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate custodial equipment, hand tools, and chemicals in a safe and effective manner.
• Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.
• Performs building inspections to ensure building cleanliness.
• Operates various types of equipment and machinery, which include wet vacuums, hand trucks, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, floor buffers, automatic scrubbers, etc.
• Cleans buildings by sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sealing, buffing, washing rooms, vacuuming, washing surfaces, removing trash, etc.
• Occasionally removes snow and ice.
• Clean/stock all restrooms and janitorial closets.
• Review open work orders for assigned area and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Report observations and concerns within assigned area to management.
• Flexibility to adapt to ever changing priorities.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
