About The Position

Under the direction of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the Custodial Maintenance Assistant is responsible maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the Trails Recreation Center, while delivering the highest level of customer service.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of custodial and housekeeping practices.
  • Ability to perform a variety of cleaning activities, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, cleaning windows, and shampooing carpets.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment including vacuum, floor scrubber, snow shovel, mop, buffer, shampooer, cleaning chemical stations, etc.
  • Ability to interact professionally and positively with patrons and staff.
  • Ability to work individually and in teams.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff, contractors, vendors, and general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess skills to maintain a safe environment, as well as performing quality work.
  • Reliable transportation or a means to making it to work shifts on time.
  • Ability to understand, comprehend, and follow all policies and procedures as well as verbalized and written instructions directed by management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings, mornings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to perform minor construction and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Clean all areas of the recreation facility, equipment, and grounds, including but not limited to locker rooms, restrooms, multi-purpose rooms, parking lot, and other spaces of the organization while keeping with the prescribed health and hygiene standards.
  • General cleaning of the facility, including but not limited to vacuuming, mopping, buffing, shampooing carpet, scrubbing, cleaning windows, dusting, and emptying trash.
  • Ability to complete daily task checklists, verbalized assignments, and visual inspections in a timely manner.
  • Ability to correctly operate cleaning equipment/systems.
  • Ability to understand schedules and facility programming that involve the day-to-day operation of the Trails Recreation Center.
  • Ensures adequate supply of custodial maintenance and housekeeping supplies for all areas.
  • Strictly adhere to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices and changes of such rules.
  • Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Must maintain a positive and friendly attitude while engaged in stressful and/or controversial situations with patrons and co-workers.
  • Complies with department and District rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
