This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. We are seeking a skilled Crane and Conveyance System Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of crane system design, including control systems, and will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of crane and conveyance systems.

  • Design and develop crane systems and their control systems in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate crane systems into overall project plans.
  • Perform feasibility studies and risk assessments for new crane system designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to crane and conveyance systems.
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, system diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
  • Conduct training sessions for operations and maintenance staff on new crane systems.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in crane technology.
  • Develop and test control software for PC, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC based systems for overhead cranes, metal rolling, strip processing and rod/bar mill applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience can replace the need for degree or licensure
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience
  • 3 years’ experience in designing, commissioning, and maintaining industrial drive and automation systems for heavy industry applications
  • 1 year of experience with programmable logic controllers
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and SCADA systems.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations pertaining to crane systems (e.g., OSHA, ANSI).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Certification in crane operation or maintenance.
  • Experience with project management methodologies.
