Facilities Associate

Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NYMontgomery, NY
Onsite

About The Position

Are you ready to be the "Main Character" of our facility? The Food Bank is looking for a Facilities Associate who takes pride in ownership and excellence. In this role, you aren't just maintaining a building; you are ensuring that thousands of pounds of food move safely through a clean, efficient, and "locked-in" environment. If you're a problem-solver who enjoys working independently and keeping things running at a "10/10" level, we want to meet you. As our Facilities Associate, you are the steward of our home base. You'll oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of our building, equipment, and grounds to ensure we never miss a beat in serving the community.

Requirements

  • Qualified: 18+ years old with a High School diploma (or equivalent) and a valid NYS driver's license.
  • Experienced: You have a background in operating power equipment (certification is a must, and we'll help you maintain it).
  • Mission-Driven: You work well independently but love collaborating with other departments to fight hunger.
  • Reliable: You follow safety standards to the letter and take pride in "Equipment & Asset Care."
  • Physical Vibe Check: This is an active, "hands-on" role in a dynamic warehouse setting. You should be comfortable with: Lifting up to 80 pounds without assistance. Staying active with periods of standing, bending, and reaching. Working in varying temperatures (the warehouse can get "Hot Tamale" warm or "Iced Coffee" cold depending on the season).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience is a major plus!

Responsibilities

  • Keep the Engine Running: Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs across warehouse and office spaces.
  • Equipment Expert: Ensure our refrigeration, forklifts, and doors stay in peak condition through scheduled maintenance and inspections.
  • Vendor Liaison: Build and maintain "top-tier" relationships with outside contractors, overseeing their work to ensure quality.
  • Safety First: Maintain high sanitation and safety standards (Feeding America, AIB, USDA) to keep our "Aura" professional and compliant.
  • Lead the Way: Serve as the primary trainer for our powered equipment, ensuring the rest of the team is safe and certified.
  • Weather Ready: Proactively prepare the facility for inclement weather-we don't let a little snow stop the mission!

Benefits

  • When you work here, your "Aesthetic" is Impact. Every repair you make and every forklift you inspect directly helps put food on the tables of our neighbors. We offer a professional, respectful environment where your work truly matters.
