The Facilities Assistant at the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) is responsible for providing custodial services to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing various cleaning operations, minor building maintenance, and assisting with deliveries and shipping duties under general supervision.

  • Provide custodial service for assigned areas and buildings.
  • Perform special cleaning operations and minor building maintenance work.
  • Ensure assignments are completed in a safe, proper, and timely manner.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, dust, and vacuum hallways, stairs, office spaces, and restrooms.
  • Empty trash containers and recycle materials from the facility.
  • Clean restrooms and stock supplies to meet sanitary standards.
  • Operate scrubbers, buffers, carpet cleaners, and other equipment.
  • Clean ceilings, walls, and window blinds.
  • Refill lavatory supply dispensers and replace light bulbs and tubes.
  • Assist in moving and arranging furniture in offices and meeting rooms.
  • Perform minor building repairs using hand tools.
  • Maintain equipment used in the course of work.
  • Notify management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to equipment.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and visitors.
  • One year of custodian or equivalent experience preferred.
