About The Position

The Facilities and Grounds Technician is responsible for, under general direction of the Manager of Facilities and Grounds, the planning, coordination, and assist in overseeing the operation of RVU's facility, including custodial and grounds, lighting system monitoring, and the safety and coordination of campus usage. This position provides support to the Manager of Facilities and Grounds as well as the Facilities and Grounds Sr. Technicians and Facilities Technician, the Shipping and Receiving Dept., and the Security Department. This position reports to the Manager of Facilities and Grounds.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) - three (3) years of experience in maintenance, landscaping or facilities duties.
  • Final applicant will be required to pass background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Some coursework in construction management, electrical, HVAC, plumbing or other facility related subjects and one (1) - thwo (2) years of experience in hands on maintenance, landscaping or facilities duties.
  • Three (3) - five (5) years of experience with the maintenance, facilities, and monitoring of a facility operating system.

Responsibilities

  • Keep records of inspections and maintenance records of all safety systems within RVU Utah.
  • Assists in creating a schedule or timetable of regular evaluations of the facility, and regular maintenance.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements and modifications associated with the custodial staff.
  • Assists in scheduling the work of outside contractors and vendors, specifically, landscaping, plumbing, lighting, door closures, and security related issues, including inspection and completion.
  • Monitor and maintain Lighting schedule while providing support and backup to the Sr. Facilities Technician and Facilities Technician, with the maintenance of the HVAC management system.
  • Submit requests to the Manager of Facilities and Grounds for maintenance projects.
  • Assists the Manager of Facilities and Grounds and all technicians in developing and maintaining a plan for 24-7 coverage relating to building usage, custodial, grounds, maintenance, safety and emergencies.
  • Oversees the usage of facilities by RVU Utah personnel/groups and organizations within the university: set-ups, tear downs, and clean-up.
  • Monitors and maintains the irrigation system and grounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as needed under the direction of the Manager.
  • Continue education programs through plumbing and lighting vendors, keeping RVU Utah up to code standards related to plumbing and lighting.
