Job Description Job Description: Provides high quality journeyman-level support to Facilities customers at FLIR and reports directly to the Facilities lead worker. Maintains and repairs the facility’s structure, equipment and grounds, including plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Performs skilled trades work, such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures. Must be able to support on-call status, in rotation with three other Technicians for after hours-emergency response 24/7. Rotation scheduled for one week out of every four weeks (7 days), must be able to respond to site within 25 minutes during scheduled rotation. Works with manufacturing or process engineering in the installation or repair of building plumbing and wiring required in the production process. Makes periodic or special inspections of the premise to determine repair work necessary. Works from blueprints, drawings or rough sketches. Designs and constructs custom workstations for all areas of the TDY FLIR Goleta operations using Creform materials and hardware. The Creform product is a framing and bracketing system that is used to create custom workstations that are specific to the task or assembly function taking place on the production floor or in the cleanroom. This position is responsible for working with the production team to create a 3D computer generated design of the workstation, order the materials, fabricate any needed part and assemble the final product into a working production cell. The materials used in the construction of this workstation is conductive and the final step will be certifying the station as ESD safe. Coordinates the company Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) program. Provides initial training to new hires and periodic recertification training to existing employees. Sets up workstations to comply with all required ESD protocols and certifies completed benches before work commences. At the request of Quality Assurance, may be required to perform ESD compliance audits of workstations. Tool Calibration Support. This position supports the semiconductor calibration function to maintain production tooling, with scheduling, tracking and audits of certifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess valid driver license and clean MVR.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the following trade or trades: Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC.
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing using the English language.
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70lbs
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time while carrying equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Working from plans, drawings, rough sketches or verbal instructions: Has the knowledge and ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all types building electrical and control systems.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to construct, alter, and remodel various types of internal and external building structures.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot and repairs process and house plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to perform preventive maintenance on, diagnose, maintain and repair all types of heating, ventilating and cooling systems.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to troubleshoot, modify and expand building networks.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to set up, knock down and move offices, labs and related equipment.
  • Ability to interface effectively with administrators, engineers, process workers, co-workers and contractors. (Good interpersonal skills mandatory).
  • Ability to work from a wide range of work instructions from simple plans to complex blueprints.
  • Must have current knowledge of industry accepted safe work practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Job-specific trade school courses, military training or AA /AS degree a plus.
  • Experience in repairing and maintaining factory support equipment such as pumps, compressors, HVAC units a benefit to the position.
  • Computer literacy desired.
  • Equipment or skill-specific certification desired.
  • Ability to work with incomplete documentation a plus.
  • Ability to set up and maintain inventories of spare parts.
  • Computer literacy and computer control system experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of UBC, UFC, NEC State and local codes a plus.
  • Use of computer drawing modeling applications such as Auto-cad or SolidWorks beneficial and small 3D printers.
  • Must be proficient in using shop tools to include, but not limited to, table saw, band saw, drill press, hydraulic press, grinders, routers, belt sanders, forklift, and various hand tools.
