The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community. Within ACS, the Family Services Division (FSD) is a beacon of support to families by connecting them to community-based resources. The division works to provide resources that maintain the safety and well being of families. DPS provides guidance and resources to our contracted providers that strengthen their ability to assess and address the service needs of families. The Preventive Family Team Conference office provides services designed to strengthen and stabilize families, prevent the need for out of home care, expedite permanency and prevent the replacement of children into foster care. In addition, the division provides policy guidance to Children Services’ staff and prevention provider agencies working with children and youth with a variety of educational, medical, mental health and developmental challenges.
