About The Position

Responsible for facilitating a radiology procedure outcome by ensuring that each radiologic procedure is dictated by the radiologist. The role is to assist the radiologist’s daily flow of their workload to ensure timely dictation and completion of daily work volume. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : (overall) include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Check radiologist schedules as well as the center’s procedure schedule. Distribute workload/worklist for the radiologist. Retrieve previous studies and/or reports for radiologist dictation comparison needs. Return any comparison CDs to central medical records or outside sources. (for old film studies, send them to be digitized) Receive and make telephone calls for the radiologist. Prepare, fax and scan or call in preliminary reports to referring physician offices. Burn patient exam CD’s when needed. Prepare studies that need addendums and correction for the radiologist and to keep track and follow up with every addendum. Prepare, fax, and scan all outside medical records requests required for comparison. Watch work list for exams that are waiting for prior exams so that they are not missed or left unread within the given time frame. All other duties as requested. Function in a team environment and assist other team members when needed. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in the back-office setting; preferably in medical records and/or one-on-one experience with physicians.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and clinic policies including safety, privacy and HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of a medical records operation of a medical office.
  • Knowledge and application of all the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Skill in completing job functions in a timely manner.
  • Skill in using computer and medical records software and RIS/PACS competently to process patient images and department information.
  • Skill in multitasking at a high volume/high stress level.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, outside referring physician offices, patients, co-workers, and management.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical records/health information technician experience preferred.
