About The Position
The welder is responsible for Mig, Tig, and Stick types of welding. This position involves examining work pieces for defects, measuring work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications, and fabricating, setting up, and repairing rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear using hand and power tools. The welder will also be responsible for dismantling and storing rigging equipment after use, operating vehicles and mechanized devices, and controlling machines and processes. Reading blueprints and understanding how to use a tape measure, level, and square are essential skills for this role. The welder will select gear according to load weights and sizes, control the movement of heavy equipment, and install ground rigging for yarding lines. Additionally, the welder will align, level, and anchor machinery, manipulate rigging lines, and attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures.
