About The Position

Team Penske is seeking a Welder/Fabricator to support its NASCAR program by building, modifying, and repairing race vehicles, pit equipment, and shop components. This role is responsible for precision welding and fabrication to meet engineering specifications and NASCAR regulations in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, capable of working independently or within a team, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship that supports on-track success.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of welding experience preferred (MIG/TIG).
  • Strong fabrication skills with the ability to meet tight tolerances and engineering specifications.
  • Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and related programs).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and team members.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate materials and components to meet Team Penske specifications as directed by management and engineering.
  • Cut, shape, bend, and prepare metal and tubing using MIG and TIG welding processes.
  • Operate fabrication and manual machining equipment including drill press, shears, brakes, rollers, rotary punch, and related tooling.
  • Perform carbon panel repair, composite adhesion, heat shield application, grinding, deburring, and surface preparation for welding, adhesive bonding, or paint.
  • Support racecar body installation, pit support equipment fabrication, and shop equipment projects.
  • Document layouts, preparation methods, and measurements to ensure repeatable processes and training consistency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control personnel to ensure components meet drawings, tolerances, and applicable racing regulations (IMSA, NASCAR, IndyCar).
  • Prepare components for paint or wrap through sanding, filling, smoothing, and final finishing.
  • Inspect and quality-check completed work to ensure it meets Team Penske standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while adhering to all PPE and safety requirements.
  • Travel as needed to support rapid response needs at the racetrack or other Team Penske functions.
  • Perform repair work to vehicles and composite panels while maintaining proper part identification and serial tracking.
