About the position

The Fabricator/Assembler position at MiTek involves the safe and efficient operation of automated laser cutting machines, plasma cutters, and CNC-controlled machines. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, basic welding and metal fabrication skills, and the ability to read technical drawings. The position is essential for ensuring high-quality fabrication of parts while maintaining productivity and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated laser cutting machines and plasma cutters following prescribed processes and procedures.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures related to operating cutting machines, including handling gases and using PPE.
• Perform basic welding and metal fabrication as needed.
• Read technical drawings and blueprints to determine dimensions and cutting paths.
• Set up and run CNC-controlled machines for cutting metal or other materials.
• Configure machine parameters and ensure accurate calibration of cutting tools.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure them to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Monitor fabricating processes to avoid under or over cutting, bending, or warping of materials.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on cutting equipment.
• Position and secure work-pieces using hoists and cranes.
• Complete any other job duties assigned within and outside of the fabricating department.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
• One to two years of related experience preferred, but not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
• Lock-Out, Tag-out Certified; Crane Certified; Forklift Certified; Ladder and Sling Certified.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, engineers, and supervisors.
• Ability to read a tape measure, use a micrometer, voltmeter, and calipers.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and general technology or electronics.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for generating cutting paths.
• Basic understanding of different materials used in fabrication, including metals and alloys.
