The Fabricator/Assembler – Level III - Spotwelder specializes in performing precision spotwelding operations as part of the assembly process, ensuring structural integrity and product quality. This role requires consistent adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and environmental regulations throughout all welding activities. This role is on 3rd shift, with hours from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and is located on-site at our manufacturing facility in Greeneville, TN.

Requirements

  • One (1) to two (2) years of relevant manufacturing experience in lieu of education.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math skills to manage scrap and return-to-stock processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, route sheets, and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact constructively with team members and support production goals.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance pattern.
  • Ability to detect and report unusual conditions or defective materials to supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver liners and components of varying sizes and weights, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to work overtime and flexible shifts as needed.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in spotwelding or metal fabrication within a manufacturing or assembly line environment.
  • Familiarity with operating spot welders, H-clip machines, and roller tables.
  • Experience performing changeovers and preventive maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of 6S workplace organization and Continuous Improvement (CI) practices.
  • Ability to use hand tools and mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
  • Experience completing production documentation such as scrap sheets, safety checklists, and inspection forms.
  • Basic understanding of quality control principles and safety compliance in a manufacturing setting.
  • Certification in welding or metal fabrication (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) is a plus.
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strictly adheres to all safety, DOT, HAZMAT, and environmental policies and procedures, including the proper use of designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Sets up and operates various spot welding equipment and H-clip machines for steel components, ensuring efficient changeovers without causing line stoppages.
  • Performs spotwelding tasks to form liners and assemblies in accordance with quality and quantity standards outlined in blueprints and route sheets.
  • Accurately fits and positions weldments using welding fixtures, jigs, rollers, and other tools to ensure proper alignment and structural integrity.
  • Understands and utilizes the functions and capabilities of spot welders, H-clip machines, and roller tables to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Collaborates effectively with pleater operators, funnel table operators, material handlers, and leadership to maintain optimal production flow and resolve issues promptly.
  • Completes all required documentation (e.g., scrap sheets, return-to-stock forms, safety checklists, first-piece inspection sheets) accurately and on time.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance on assigned welding and assembly equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
  • Applies mechanical aptitude, work instructions, and hand tools to complete daily tasks with precision and consistency.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 6S standards and actively participates in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Meets or exceeds routed standards and key performance metrics, including changeover time, scrap rates, and return-to-stock accuracy.
  • Willing and able to work scheduled overtime and provide coverage for other shifts or roles as needed.
  • Supports cross-functional teams and assists other departments when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support production and operational goals.
