About The Position

The Fabricator - Assembler A applies advanced technical skills and knowledge to perform various production operations to fabricate, assemble and repair metallic and nonmetallic parts and assemblies used on operational aircraft. The role involves moderate to complex tasks that require experience and judgment to determine plans and actions from standard procedural alternatives.

Requirements

• No formal education required; a combination of experience and training may be substituted.
• 4-7 years of experience in fabrication and assembly of metallic and non-metallic parts used on operational aircraft.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production planning and detailed work instructions.
• Successfully complete job specific or specialized certification programs required for core tasks or special assignments.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and repair detail parts, subassemblies and assemblies used on operational aircraft.
• Perform routine and non-routine fabrication and assembly functions following established methods and procedures.
• Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material with or without templates or shop aides.
• Route, saw, drill or otherwise change and add value to detail parts and subassemblies according to work instructions.
• Use hand and power tools such as routers, drills, die grinders to complete required operations.
• Trim parts to fit and finish out the material, part or assembly to specifications.
• Assemble detail parts into subassemblies and complete assemblies using written and verbal work instructions.
• Drive and buck rivets, bolts, screws and clips and prepare and apply adhesives to detail parts.
• Install assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints.
• Inspect assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
• Set up and cut out patterns, upholster interiors panels and cabinets for aircraft installation or modification.
• Install snaps, slide fasteners, hook and loop tape (Velcro) and grommets.
• Operate production machines and equipment such as hot or cold presses, shears, brakes, band saws, drill presses, lathes, mills.
• Perform other duties as required, including assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
