About The Position

Key Technology in Walla Walla, WA is a worldwide leader in food processing technology. As a global industrial manufacturing company, their ongoing innovations provide increased control, continuous processing, sorting, automated inspection, specialized conveying, and grading and sizing, in processed fruits and vegetables, nuts, dried fruit, fresh-cut produce and more. The company is currently seeking a Fabricator to join their team. The Fabricator will be trained or help on one or more machines or work centers such as cutoff saws, CNC and standard shears and brakes, rollers, presses, forming machines, CNC and standard whitney punching machines, and CNC plasma & punch machines, belt, bench and hand-held grinders that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures. Safety is a top priority at all times while performing any part of the job. The role involves operating machines or working in work centers with supervision, reading job specifications, assisting in one- or two-man operations, observing machine operation, measuring workpiece dimensions, removing burrs, and handling finished workpieces.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to stand regularly.
  • Ability to frequently walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to occasionally reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Operates machines or works in work centers with supervision.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Frequently going to different work centers to help where needed to assist in a one- or two-man operation.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece.
  • Stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished workpieces.
  • Properly use barcode system to reflect time charged to jobs.
