This position works under general supervision, coordinates, oversees and monitors activities within Fabrications. As a Machining Team Lead at Caterpillar, you will: Capable of learning basic CNC machining operations Use lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs. Position heavy fabricated metal components in fit-up jigs and weld fixtures utilizing overhead and jib cranes Use both manual and digital gages to record dimensional machining data Oversees the efficient operation of all machining cells Will be responsible for meeting performance metrics as they pertain to safety, quality, velocity and cost Coordinate, oversee, and monitors activities in fabrications Be the first point of contact for questions related to employee job functions Perform administrative functions and may be accountable for daily team PQVC metric boards Provide input on schedule/build adjustments Communicate with cross-functional leaders Trains new and develop existing employees Liaison between team members and section managers Responsible for training other team members in Standard Work

Requirements

Must have at least 3 years’ experience operating multi-axis CNCN machining centers
Physical requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation): Willing and able to sit or stand for prolonged periods
Willing and able to perform repetitive operations
Willing and able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills as it pertains to communication and personal interaction with others.

Nice To Haves

Previous team lead or supervisory experience
Further vocational and/or college education
Intermediate proficiency (Basic skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently) in Microsoft Office
Intermediate proficiency in SAP software
CNC machining experience
Advanced problem solving/troubleshooting ability and root cause corrective action
Strong analytical skills/High attention to detail
Strong performance ratings and excellent attendance
