Fabrication Technician
About The Position
At Wing Inflatables we have dedicated ourselves over the past 30 years to giving rescue workers, the coast guard, Navy SEALs, river rafting guides, and kayakers, the confidence to stay safe while performing with lightweight speed and agility on the water. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS JOB? Responsible for assembling structural boat products using tools, machines, and their own hands. Fabricates, repairs, and installs articles such as transoms, floor boards and other boat accessories from blueprints with industry standard materials and tools following project schedules and meeting established budgets.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or combination of relevant work/school
- Demonstrated ability to use tools including drill motors, drill presses and other power and basic hand tools
- Demonstrated knowledge of how product goes together.
- Proficiency working on computers and with various software.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions, and use math skills.
- Ability to carry out detailed instructions, apply common sense, and deal with problems as they arise.
- Strong, professional work ethic, deadline driven and quality conscious.
- Punctual and regular attendance; willingness to work OT if needed; schedules off time in advance whenever possible
Responsibilities
- Fabrication of transoms, floor boards, and joiners for production and/or shipment.
- Operate various power and manual tools, e.g., sanders, drills, grinders.
- Measures with various precision instruments as required.
- Lays out work from written and verbal instructions.
- Employs appropriate trade methods to ensure integrity.
- May prepare nonstandard parts fabrication templates
- Proficient in marking, scribing, cutting, bending, and installing to close tolerances
- Work and operate machine tools independently while maintaining standard operating procedures
- Carry out machining and test product to achieve and confirm desired product specifications
- Perform all safety checks and use PPE as required
