About The Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, fabricating, assembling, and welding various metal components according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications. This role requires proficiency in multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick), expertise in operating fabrication equipment, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Metal Fabricator and Welder in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques on various metals.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to create drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Experience operating standard metal fabrication equipment (e.g., shear, band saw, ironworker, grinders, manual mills and lathes).
  • Knowledge of different metal types and their properties.
  • Strong understanding of welding symbols and fabrication principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Commitment to workplace safety protocols.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess basic hand tools relevant to the trade.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50-75 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and reach for extended periods.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work in a workshop environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and temperature variations.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

Nice To Haves

  • Structural steel install experience.
  • Experience operating forklift, boom lifts.
  • AWS (American Welding Society) certifications (e.g., D1.1, D1.3, D1.6).
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication and erection.
  • Vocational school training or apprenticeship in welding/fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, assemble, and weld various metal components according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
  • Create drawings in AutoCAD for fabrication both in-house and by vendor.
  • Use problem solving and fabrication knowledge to design new components to enhance reliability of equipment.
  • Measure, cut, shape, bend, and form metal components using tools such as shears, saws, grinders, mills, lathes.
  • Perform welding operations using MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) processes on various materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Ensure all welds meet required specifications, quality standards, and structural integrity.
  • Assemble fabricated components accurately.
  • Perform finishing tasks such as grinding, sanding, and preparing surfaces for paint or other finishes.
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely (training/certification will be provided).
  • Conduct routine maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and designers to ensure projects are completed efficiently and correctly.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
