About The Position

As a Fabrication Tech, you will fabricate raw metal into assemblies using tools such as welders, plasma cutters, and metal workers. You will fabricate, inspect, debur, and perform general paint prep steps on clean metal - playing a key role in keeping production running smoothly while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Fabrication certificate from a trade school
  • 3–6 months of experience in fabrication or welding
  • 3–6 months of experience safely operating machines
  • Prior experience is preferred but not required — we are willing to train the right candidate!

Responsibilities

  • Operating fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment; reading blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  • Building jigs to specific lengths and correct measurements
  • Welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions; examining welds for bead size and other specifications
  • Cleaning and degreasing weld joints or workpieces; repairing broken or cracked parts, filling holes, and preparing surfaces by grooving or scarfing
  • Removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces; chipping off excess weld, slag, and spatter
  • Positioning and clamping workpieces together or assembling them in a jig or fixture
  • Performing minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces
  • Setting up and performing maintenance on fab and machine shop machines; performing burning work
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly work area and complying with all OSHA and PCE safety rules
  • Accurately recording time worked and allocating time to the appropriate job(s)
