About The Position

Summary: Under the direction of the Metal Processing Team Lead, the Fabrication Team Member will be responsible for set up and operation of various metal fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, saws, and presses, to cut, bend, straighten and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes according to blueprints and specifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience including the ability to apply math (fractions, ratios, measurements) and to read, comprehend, and convert instruction manuals/diagrams into work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in metal fabrication machining, assembly, and/or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of Metric and English measurement systems with the ability to perform conversions.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, attribute/variable gages and hand tools
  • Experience using or knowledge of Lean manufacturing and/or ISO9001 methodologies, processes, or tools
  • Bilingual Spanish/English

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate metal fabrication machines to ensure precision machining operations.
  • Monitor and verify finished parts conform to engineering drawings and quality standards per the Control Plan.
  • Ensure that standard procedures are followed in all aspects of work including tool setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling.
  • Perform general machine maintenance per Daily Maintenance Checklists.
  • As needed, lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds of materials to assist in production.
  • Learn and execute team lifts for items over 40 pounds.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and ergonomic devices and lift assists, navigating the plant with alert behavior, operating power tools and machines according to instructions, and disposing of waste properly.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
