Join the ARC Robotics Technology Development team and support the fabrication capability that enables rapid robotics development. As a Fabrication Shop Technician supporting the ARC Robotics Technology Development team, you will operate and maintain shop equipment, manage material stock, and support fabrication of parts and hardware used in prototype and lab development activities. Justification Critical skills needed to support in-house fabrication, equipment upkeep, and rapid prototype part creation for ARC technology development activities. Job Description Work Arrangement Primarily onsite. This role requires regular onsite support in ARC fabrication spaces. The Role ARC relies on in-house fabrication capability to move quickly from concept to prototype. A well-run shop supports engineering speed, hardware quality, and safe execution of development work. As a Fabrication Shop Technician, you will own daily operation of the fabrication area, including machine use, material stock, equipment upkeep, and support for prototype part production. You will work with engineers and lab personnel to produce parts, maintain equipment readiness, and keep the shop organized and safe.

Requirements

  • Technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in machining, fabrication, or shop operations
  • Experience operating manual and CNC shop equipment
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and basic part requirements
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on problem solving skills
  • Experience maintaining tools, machines, and shop organization
  • Strong attention to detail and safe work practices
  • Ability to support multiple fabrication requests in a development environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting prototype, R&D, or automation development teams
  • Familiarity with HAAS CNC equipment
  • Experience fabricating one off or low volume development parts
  • Ability to work directly with engineers to refine parts for speed and function

Responsibilities

  • Operate shop equipment including CNC mill, drill presses, band saws, lathes, grinders, and related tools
  • Support fabrication of prototype parts, brackets, fixtures, and other hardware for engineering projects
  • Maintain material stock, consumables, and shop supply inventory
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and coordinate service needs when required
  • Help ensure the shop remains clean, organized, and safe for daily operation
  • Review drawings or part requirements with engineers and support practical fabrication plans
  • Assist with basic inspection, part finishing, and hardware preparation as needed
  • Track completed work, material usage, and equipment issues clearly and consistently
