About The Position

We are seeking a dependable and mechanically skilled Fabrication Shop Mechanic to repair vehicles and shop equipment and machinery. This role is essential to keeping production running safely and efficiently by minimizing downtime and ensuring all equipment is operating at peak performance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Technical/trade certification preferred)
  • 5+ years of mechanical/welding experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
  • Proven team player with clear and respectful communication skills
  • Curious and eager to learn new tools, processes and industry standards
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the initiative to dig into issues and propose solutions
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Capable of maintaining accurate project records, reports, and drawing packages
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage parts inventory

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to weld or willingness to learn is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues on shop equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fabrication machinery, vehicles and welding machines
  • Repair or replace defective components on saws, presses, welders, shears, CNC machines, forklifts, vehicles and other shop equipment
  • Maintain maintenance logs and service records
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Work with supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize production delays
  • Assist with general facility maintenance as needed
  • Ensure machinery complies with safety standards
  • Support lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA compliance
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area
  • Recommend equipment upgrades or process improvements
  • Assist with new equipment installation and setup
  • Ability to weld or willingness to learn is a plus
  • Support cost control efforts by managing parts inventory efficiently
