About The Position

The fab projects maintenance tech must have basic knowledge of General Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and advanced Welding (TIG, STICK). Leads must be able to work either as a team or individually. Must comply with all company safety rules, lockout tagout (loto) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Previous experience fabricating with metal (black / stainless steel) 3-5 years
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 5 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors
  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT)
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to read and execute work order, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals
  • Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or school (Preferred)
  • Slaughter meat industry experience preferred
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Implement mechanical and engineering projects
  • Ensure all assigned daily tasks and paperwork are completed
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are in good mechanical order
  • Aid other teams (assist maintenance teams on fab / harvest / rendering as needed)
  • Always follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety Practices
  • Setup machinery, visually inspect, test machinery and tear down machinery
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problems or repair machine
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings gears, and other parts of machinery
  • Repair and maintain the physical structures of the establishment
