Under general direction of the VP of Steel and Structural Services, the Fabrication Project Manager (PM) leads the success of the fabrication department through relationships, performance, financials, growth and development, accountability, and reporting. The PM is both a leader and a manager—responsible for, direct reports, shop crews, and managing cross-departmental and third-party stakeholder relationships. Key responsibilities include estimating and bidding, maintaining financial accountability, ensuring project quality, managing workload projections, and driving a culture of servant leadership and continuous improvement.

  • Scope fabrication projects (small and large)
  • Review bids, analyze problems, and propose solutions
  • Prepare and submit change orders (COs)
  • Understand and apply market value of services
  • Accurately complete Work in Progress (WIP) reports monthly
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget
  • Forecast financial performance (monthly and quarterly)
  • Manage productive customer relationships and communications
  • Provide weekly project updates (internal and external)
  • Ensure timely responses to all emails (within 24 hours)
  • Take full ownership of department output and solutions
  • Lead weekly and monthly department meetings
  • Promote a positive, rewarding, and fun culture for the office team
  • Oversee fabrication shop quality control
  • Conduct final quality checks on all departmental products
  • Maintain accurate workload projections (2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months)
  • Develop and update project schedules and forecasts weekly (or more often as needed)
  • Monitor performance of teams and self, course-correcting as required
  • Proactively hold performance and improvement conversations with staff
  • Reward and motivate shop crews to maintain strong morale
  • Lead role in training, mentoring, and advancing employees
  • Demonstrate and apply a 'team first' leadership style supporting department, division, organization, and clients
  • Implement change and improve processes where needed
  • 5+ years’ experience in fabrication, construction, or project management
  • 3+ years’ leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong estimating and scheduling background preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent (college or technical background a plus)
