About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Plant Manager to lead and oversee operations within a structural steel fabrication facility. This role is responsible for ensuring production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, enforcing safe work practices, and meeting project timelines and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience in structural steel fabrication or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, shop equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to motivate and manage diverse production teams.
  • Effective problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; scheduling tools experience required.
  • Knowledge of welding machines, gas-powered tools, rigging equipment, and related components.
  • Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic product inspections.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Occasional travel to offsite locations may be required.
  • Work hours align with production schedules, with flexibility for additional hours, including weekends, as needed.

  • Familiarity with Tekla PowerFab is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage daily shop operations to meet production schedules and efficiency goals.
  • Lead and supervise production personnel including supervisors, welders, fitters, machinists, and quality control staff.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve workflow and output.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to align fabrication with project management and business operations.
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety standards and compliance with regulations.
  • Create and maintain detailed fabrication schedules to ensure timely project completion.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, employee growth, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with shop teams and leadership to refine fabrication methods and increase efficiency.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality.
  • Monitor QA/QC processes and perform inspections to ensure product quality.
  • Review project drawings to determine material requirements and fabrication details.
  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure materials and inventory meet production needs.
  • Track production costs and support teams with cost analysis and forecasting.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication across teams.
  • Address performance, safety, quality, attendance, or policy issues as needed.
