About The Position

Ferguson is currently seeking a Fabrication Manager that manages a team with focus on policy and strategy implementation. As a Fabrication Manager you will be responsible for managing 15-20 associates in a $25 Million dollar branch, ensuring a safe environment, scheduling work, meeting production expectations, managing and/or performing equipment repair and maintenance, managing workflow for the fabrication department, training and managing quality standards, setting expectations for safety, quality, and productivity. Establishes operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the job function. Focus is on short to mid-term operational plans (e.g., 1 to 2 years). Provides measurable input to new products, processes or standards in operational plans that will have some impact on the achievement of overall function results.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of direct supervisory/management experience as a job site foreman, fab shop supervisor, or project manager preferred.
  • Welding experience is a plus but not required.
  • Must have good problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with individual contributors, teams, peers, and leadership.
  • Ability to read prints and illustrate detailed knowledge of pipe fitting procedures and skills.
  • Previous experience in the mechanical contracting or process piping industry with pipe fitting processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize workflow through the shop and use all resources to implement tasks efficiently and effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Handle all scheduling and/or final assembly scheduling activities in a fabrication facility.
  • Coordinate and supervise employees who set up and operate standard machine tools and attachments for various processing operations in the production of parts, assemblies, and complete units.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working condition and meet calibration specifications.
  • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
  • Responsible for performance metrics, process improvement, and lean thinking.
  • May be responsible for maintenance, manufacturing, quality control, engineering, supply and logistics, distribution, accounting, IT, and administration.
  • Perform tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
  • Develop complex operation sequences and provide recommendations for improving efficiency and processes.
  • Maintain production records, reports, and analyze production data.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and represent associate concerns, policies and guidelines to the management team.
  • Conduct regular associate meetings and daily toolbox talk meetings.
  • Represent the organization to customers, associates and leadership as needed.
