About The Position

Atlas Molded Products is seeking a Machine Operator - Cutting for their Byron Center, MI facility. This role involves a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements, and departmental procedures. Key responsibilities include inspecting and packaging parts, cutting, bundling, wrapping, stacking, packing, assembling, and labeling materials according to production instructions. The operator will also be responsible for operating and maintaining various machinery, verifying equipment setup, maintaining productivity standards, ensuring product quality, and keeping the work area clean. Participation in safety requirements, quality systems, and continuous improvement activities is mandatory. The position requires reliable and predictable attendance, and successful candidates must be trained and signed off on job procedures by a supervisor within two months of hire.

Requirements

• Prior experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment.
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills desired.
• Must be able to use simple math, count and use basic hand-held measuring tools.
• Knowledge of basic safety standards such as Lock Out Tag procedures.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and OSHA safety standards.
• Light to moderate physical effort required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, reaching both forward and above head level, and tolerant of temperature changes for the entire shift.
• Must be able to push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds; and safely operate assigned machinery.

Nice To Haves

• Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken, preferred.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Report to Manager at shift start for direction for the day.
• Solid understanding of the manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements and departmental procedures.
• Inspect and package parts according to specification pages and record required information on in-process sheets.
• Cuts, bundle, wrap, stack, pack, assemble and label materials per specific production instructions.
• Operate and maintain machinery such as, but not limited to all wire cutting, CNC cutting, hauling, conveyor systems, and wrapping equipment along with hi-lo operation and one person lifting equipment.
• Verify equipment set-up throughout the process; continuous operations, and power down of manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain productivity standards and verify all job requirements of the final products with the correct density, material, weight, size, and shape within given quality tolerance to meet specific job requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate Pre-breakers / Re-Grinding equipment to recycle EPS.
• Perform any other functions and responsibilities as assigned.
• Must be trained and participate with Safety requirements, Quality Systems and Continuous Improvement activities.
• Must be verified by supervisor and be signed off on procedures needed to fulfill job requirements within 2 months of hire.
• Reliable and predictable attendance is required.
