The Fabrication Machine Operator is an intermediate level machine operator position in the Company. The FMO/Tube Mill may be responsible for operations and/or set up any fabricating equipment including Tube Mill and other fabrication equipment as needed. The FMO/Tube Mill receives specific work assignments under general supervision and resolves most problems with limited supervisory assistance. All work is subject to first piece, in process and final inspections and testing to minimize metal damage and control excess labor and material expense. The FMO/Tube Mill is expected to practice and adhere to the department’s 6s and ISO standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary: Reviews job/production orders and interprets accompanying prints and drawings to determine job requirements, check for accuracy of information, and identify any discrepancies or special needs. Selects and/or verifies materials, processes and equipment required to perform assigned jobs. Adjusts fabricating machine(s) according to required set-up including programs as authorized. Prepares and cleans product surfaces, as necessary, for desired operation. Operates machines fabricating various components and structures. Monitors machine performance and output during production to ensure proper results. Packages finished product to proper specifications. Cleans and maintains work area (daily), fabricating equipment and other tools of the trade. Works in a safe manner at all times. Must participate and abide by all the safety and environmental provisions, practices and policies that are assigned to Specific Heat.
