Fabrication Floater- 2nd Shift

About The Position

The fabrication floater will primarily be “filling in” on any work center in fab as needed depending on the workload. Training will be given for basic operations on all machines/procedures pertaining to the fabrication equipment along with all the necessary safety features and practices. This candidate will also be required to use all supplied measuring devices such as calipers, tape measures, protractors, radius gauges, and form fixtures. Other responsibilities will include identifying material types and sizes, material handling using a forklift, staging, and moving parts throughout the department, 6S on a regular basis, and anything else the department lead and/or supervisor deems necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary: The floater performs all duties in the department that he/she is assigned to for that day. This includes the operation of various fabrication equipment if instructed by the lead/supervisor. Utilizing the tools in that department to perform the job. Reports any quality issues she/he may see with product, or process to the lead/supervisor. Assists all fabrication personnel as needed if instructed by the lead/supervisor. Ensures fabrication personnel have all the necessary material/parts/tools required to perform their operations without interruption. Notifies lead/supervisor when raw material is not stocked appropriately or unsafely. Utilizes IEA Labor track system to punch in and out of jobs correctly, claim or scrap parts accurately, and determine what jobs need to be completed in the schedule for that day. The fabrication floater will be assisting in maintaining the shipping dock, loading/unloading raw material to and from the cassette rack, and staging parts for the operators. Cleans and maintains work area (daily), material handling equipment and other tools/equipment per IEA 6S requirements. Always works in a safe manner and always wears all the required PPE. Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards. Assist when needed to help train less skilled employees in the department and our company. Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand job requirements, shop drawings, and blueprints.
  • Ability to operate fabrication equipment including Laser, saw, press brake, ring roller, lift trucks, power hoists, etc. (all training and licensing will be provided)
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of fabrication and material handling experience preferred.
  • Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.
