About The Position

The Coherent Santa Rosa location’s Fiber Optic Division specializes in the production of advanced fiber optic filters used in telecommunication networks worldwide. These high-performance components enable the transmission of large volumes of data at exceptionally high speeds across global fiber optic infrastructure. Our manufacturing process integrates a range of sophisticated automation technologies to transform raw optical glass into precision engineered fiber optic filters. The finished components are extremely compact, similar in size to a quarter-carat diamond, while meeting stringent performance and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Experience with networked PC based computer systems.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the Telecom Industry.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage priorities in a production environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Consistently prioritize safety in all aspects of daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons.
  • Inspect and prepare raw optical wafers
  • Verify material specifications and cleanliness before processing optical glass
  • Operate precision grinding equipment to thin wafers to required tolerances.
  • Select appropriate grinding compounds, pads, and tooling based on material type
  • Perform fine polishing to achieve required surface finish and flatness
