About The Position

As Fabrication Technician I- Drain Pan Sandblaster, you will be responsible for preparing metal drain pans by using abrasive blasting techniques to remove rust, scale, old coatings, and other contaminants. This role ensures that all drain pans meet quality standards before they proceed to the next stage of production, such as painting or assembly. The ideal candidate will have experience operating sandblasting equipment, working in a manufacturing environment, and following safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in sandblasting, metal preparation, or a related field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of abrasive blasting techniques and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in dusty conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work as part of a team.
  • Basic mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare metal drain pans for finishing processes.
  • Inspect drain pans before and after blasting to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Adjust pressure, abrasive flow, and nozzle techniques to achieve the required surface finish.
  • Maintain sandblasting equipment and ensure it is in proper working condition.
  • Follow all safety regulations, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and protective suits.
  • Handle and dispose of blasting media according to company and environmental guidelines.
  • Work efficiently to meet production quotas and deadlines.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding equipment issues, material defects, or safety concerns.
  • Assist in other tasks related to metal finishing or production as needed.
