About The Position

The Upholstery Technician II position at PDS Tech Inc involves fabricating and installing upholstery for aircraft interiors under minimal supervision. The role requires the use of design and engineering drawings to create and install various components, ensuring adherence to aircraft specifications.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, and various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades.
• Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
• Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations.
• Must be computer literate.
• Physical ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and install upholstery, cover panels, and make simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
• Sew simple covers and work with various materials including fabric, vinyl, leather hides, and composites.
• Cut and surge carpets, cover bulkheads, and install panels, including fabricating metal parts and fitting panels and windows.
• Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work.
• Collaborate with lead technicians to implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing techniques.
• Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and use personal protective equipment as required.
• Address unsafe conditions proactively.
